Preventative Dentistry
At our clinic our dentists encourage and advise patients to improve long term oral health. It is important to take preventative measures such as regular check ups to avoid tooth decay and gum disease. These are two main reasons which could result patient requiring invasive treatments such as fillings, root canal and extraction.
Fissure Sealant
Because the chewing surfaces of your back teeth are not flat, sometimes food and bacteria can get trapped in the cracks and pits (called fissures). It is suggested that they should be covered with a tough plastic coating to protect them. This treatment is normally only given to children - especially where brothers or sisters have tooth decay - and only on permanent, not milk, teeth.
Fluoride Varnish
Application of fluoride gel can reduce tooth decay in children. As many as one in two children with high levels of tooth decay (and one in 24 with the lowest levels) would have less decay.
It is recommended twice yearly application of fluoride varnish for children between the ages of 3-17years.
Smoking cessation advice
Our dentist offer smoking cessation advice to patients during routine check up. Advice is given on the affects of smoking on teeth and general health of a patient.
Alcohol cessation advice
Our dentist offer alcohol cessation advice to patients during routine check up. Advice is given on the effects of general health and well being of a patient.
